E-Rate School Program
Offering eligible schools a rate that works with them
Affordable Solutions For Schools
E-rate provides eligible schools and libraries with telecommunications, internet access and internal connections projects at a discounted rate. Since 2008, Macro Connect has been an authorized E-Rate service provider and has provided internal connections, basic maintenance, and telecommunications services to over schools and districts across the Midwest. The depth of knowledge that Macro Connect brings to projects in this area is the result of over 250 Category 1 and Category 2 awards totaling over $8 million in hardware and services.
How does the program work?
First, a school/ library places a request for competitive bids for which E-rate supported services it seeks to the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC). Requests must be focused on Internet and wireless connectivity.
Then, USAC posts the requests on its website for qualified vendors to view. The school or library receives bids from approved providers, then picks their preferred vendor(s) and submits an application to USAC for approvals of its desired purchases.
After approval, the USAC will issue funding commitments to eligible participants. After the vendor provides the appropriate services to the applicant, the vendor or applicant submits a request to USAC for reimbursement of the approved discounts.
