RESCHEDULED:
The 2021 Summit has been rescheduled for January 28 & 29, 2021

PowerSchool is the leading provider of K-12 education application technology. Their cutting-edge Student Information System empowers thousands of educators to deliver an outstanding education to millions of students. With that dedication to innovation and education excellence comes a dedication to the teachers and administrators who use PowerSchool technology daily. PowerSchool provides a multitude of rigorous training opportunities, both indirectly through Certified Service Partners like Macro Connect, but also directly through their live training events like PowerSchool University.

Events like PowerSchool University are scheduled across the country, throughout the year. They are four days of intense instruction and hands on labs, coupled with amazing opportunities for networking within the education industry. At Macro Connect, we understand how valuable this experience can be, but also understand that admission expenses can make it inaccessible to some during the COVID-19 pandemic. With both Macro Connect and PowerSchool’s desire to help educators make the most of PowerSchool technology and push the limits of academic achievement, we’re proud to continue offering this incredible opportunity.

The Midwest’s Annual Detroit PowerSchool Summit

Macro Connect is pleased to announce that we will once again host the Detroit PowerSchool Summit, only this year it will be virtual! That’s right! This September, we’re working with PowerSchool to offer their official training curriculum in a high quality, lower cost, virtual format.

To make it more relevant to more people, the curriculum will focus on two of the most critical and widely used features including PowerSchool Basics and PowerScheduler. It will be an exclusive opportunity to dive deep into PowerSchool’s SIS capabilities and spots are already filling up so read on to learn more and contact us today to reserve your seat!

When & Where?

The 2020 Detroit PowerSchool Summit has been rescheduled for January 28 & 29, 2021.

Classes will be conducted via Zoom and then saved to your Customer Education Campus for future review.

Classes will be small enough so that attendees can really get to know their instructors and so instructors can address the individual needs of everyone in the session. The days will be divided up into morning and afternoon sessions of about three hours each. The morning session will start at 8:30am and conclude at 11:30am. Between sessions, there will be an extended lunchtime, offering an opportunity to catch up on emails. The afternoon session will begin at 1pm and conclude at 4pm.

Going Virtual During COVID-19

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, for the safety of all attendees and instructors, we will not host the 2020 Detroit PowerSchool Summit in person. Instead, we will conduct this year’s courses online via Zoom. By now, you’ve probably used Zoom, but if you need help, one of our team members would be happy to call you and walk you through the steps to download and use Zoom.

What’s more is that since these classes will be held online, we will be able to save them as videos. After the summit, we will post these videos and the associated instructional materials to the Customer Education Campus associated with your PowerSchool user account. That way you can continue to use them whenever you need a quick reminder about something you learned at the summit.

A Two-Track Curriculum

For the 2020 Detroit PowerSchool Summit, we’ll be narrowing the focus of our curriculum to widely used, core PowerSchool features including: Start/End of Year Tasks, Pupil Accounting, and PowerScheduler.

We’re calling each one of these topic areas “Tracks” and attendees will need to register for them in advance so that we can make sure the classes remain small. As you continue reading, you’ll see that each session of each track will be different, so you’ll need to choose which track you want to attend for the two-day summit. It would not be helpful to only attend a mixture of sessions between the two tracks so attendees will need to commit to one track or the other.

Track 1: PowerSchool Basics

The first track is about PowerSchool fundamentals and covers the basics you need to know to manage a full year of school. Topics include:

  • Getting the students in the right seats
  • Enrollment best practices
  • Inputting source data for Michigan State Reporting (with a specific focus on Discipline Log Entries and Special Education)
  • Data quality for start of the year submissions for the State of Michigan

Track 2: PowerScheduler

The second track covers the powerful features of PowerScheduler. Scheduling classes while dealing with shifting remote and in-person learning is an enormous challenge, but one that can be overcome with PowerScheduler. Topics include:

  • Build and Load Comparison
  • Prepare to Load Process
  • Student Requests
  • Course Relationships
  • Load Troubleshooting
  • Scheduling Around Unique Circumstances
  • Load Reports
  • Scheduling Errors
  • Schedules

There will also be break-out sessions to discuss unique scheduling situations and scheduling for hybrid learning models.

Intensive Training with Local Experts

This PowerSchool Summit will be guided by PowerSchool’s curriculum, and taught by Macro Connects team of experts. Built by former educators with decades of SIS experience, our school data team is uniquely qualified to provide direct instruction to educators on behalf of PowerSchool. And just to be doubly clear, this is not a PSUG Event. We’ll announce details of our involvement in upcoming PSUG Michigan events later this year, but this Detroit PowerSchool Summit is an official PowerSchool event and we couldn’t be more excited!
