June 2009 - Daniel Stacey joined the Macro Connect team as our resident SharePoint expert. Dan is a Western Michigan grad with over 17 years of IT consulting experience, most recently with Deloitte Consulting.

Greg Little became a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: Windows Vista - Configuration

May 2009 - Doug's Rotary Club put on its 3rd annual Birthday Party at The Children's Center. Children with birthdays falling in the month of May that are receiving services at the Children's Center were all welcome to attend. The party included games, food, arts & crafts, and a picture booth.

Greg Little worked with Beyond Basics to tutor the winner of this year's Daimler Holiday Card Art Competition. The student, a third grader at Thirkell Elementary, received one-on-one instruction on the use of his prize laptop as well as tips for using artistic software.

April 2009 - Reatta Jefferson, a current Wayne State student and former Ambassadorial Scholar to Mexico, was hired as our new intern. Reatta will be assisting with administrative tasks around the MC office.

The Macro Connect Staff received the second part of our emergency medical training and became First Aid Certified by 1st Response Medical Education. Everyone is now certified both in CPR and Basic First Aid.

Doug attended TechEDG Government Education Conference in Washington D.C. Doug was able to network with vendors, Tech Data representatives, and other value added resellers. He also received insights on winning government and educational contracts in a down economy.

Gordon and his wife Vicki's first child, Carter Thomas, was born on Monday the 27th (view a picture).

March 2009 - Macro sponsored a Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings Concert titled "Fun and Games" at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Detroit. In addition to the many people already in attendance, we were very pleased to host more than 30 of our clients, friends, and family for a great afternoon of music in the city. The concert was followed by a reception featuring a jazz pianist, appetizers, and drinks at Cliff Bell's, a jazz bar in Detroit. Also in March, Matt and Kevin participated in "Climb Detroit" for the American Lung Association for the third year running. They both climbed 70 flights of stairs at the Renaissance Center in less than 10 minutes. Matt redeemed February's go-cart racing loss by besting Kevin's time, finishing 16th overall in a field of nearly 400. You can still donate by visiting the Climb Detroit donation page.

Febuary 2009- Macro Connect held our annual employee Winter Party. We had an intense go-cart racing session at Kart 2 Kart. Kevin was the champion and will retain bragging rights for the year. Doug and Matt rounded out the top three.

January 2009- Doug was promoted from Business Manager to Operations Manager. As part of his new job, Doug will be taking on more client service and internal management responsibilities.

Also in January, the entire Macro staff became CPR certified by 1st Response Medical Education. We believe that this was especially important for our staff as our business supporting schools continues to grow. Next up, we will have First Aid training this spring.
